The $3.00 choices include a lollipop or a mini baby animal too. The students can send their buddy grams to their best friends, classmates, siblings, or even themselves! All buddy grams will have a personalized card attached that the student will fill out during purchase. They will all be surprise delivered by a student council representative to the recipient in their classes on February 14th! Last year the buddy grams sold out before the last day, so make sure the children bring the money for your purchases on the first day if possible. The selection will be a first come, first served basis. Remember, sales start on Monday, February 3rd. January's Book: Today I Feel Silly by Jamie Lee Curtis teaches students to identify emotions; their own and to understand how another person may be feeling. Learning to identify feelings is important because it is one of the first steps to becoming a bucket filler. Bucket fillers express empathy for others.

Tom Matsumoto is implementing a wonderful program for our students called Saturday Academy! Saturday Academy provides enrichment opportunities for all students while allowing our students to make-up missed days of attendance. Missed days of school also result in lost revenue to our schools. Saturday Academy allows us to recover lost learning as well as lost funding! Please click the link above for more information.

We are excited to announce that the Board has approved Matsumoto's Kindergarten Expansion. We will be renovating Rooms 4 and 5 to expand the classrooms to meet school compliance and also to add a new Kindergarten playground, tables, and awning structure. From now until May 15th, our school will be under construction. Since the fence area is tight between Room 7-12, we ask that parents wait at the top of the stairs in the front parking lot for students to exit. Please ask your child to meet you at the top of the stairs in the front parking lot or a different location of the school. If you need to walk down the stairs to find your child, please wait until foot traffic has lessen. Thank you in advance for your patience as we get this project underway.

Starting October 2nd, our school will be participating in Walk n' Roll. Every Wednesday is Walk n' Roll to School Day for students. Tom Matsumoto families are encouraged to walk to school each Wednesday to promote daily physical activity, reduce traffic congestion around Tom Matsumoto, and learn critical skills that enhances pedestrian safety. A "Mustang Pass" has been given to each student. Every Wednesday that students walk to school, they will earn a special hole punch on their Mustang Pass given by a parent volunteer or staff member wearing a bright colored vest beginning at 7:45 am at the following three points: 1) Cortona Drive and Cortona Court, 2) Mackin Woods Lane and Falerno Way, or 3) Cortona Drive and Altia Avenue. Students can earn special prizes for every 5 hole punches they receive in the OFFICE during first recess. (Students must get their "Mustang Pass" punched at these drop-off/walking points to earn prizes.) If you have any questions, please contact Dr. Nguyen at firstname.lastname@example.org. Please follow all neighborhood driving and pedestrian laws. Make sure you walk with your child when crossing the street at the crosswalk. Teach your child good safety habits. For those parents wishing to drop-off and pick-up their child by car, we ask assistance in maintaining a safe parking lot. The traffic through the parking lot will be limited to the following: On Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, from 1:50-2:00pm, the parking lot is for Kindergarten pick-up traffic only. After 2:00pm, the parking lot is open to Grades 1-6 pick-up traffic. On Thursdays, from 12:20-12:30pm, the parking lot is for Kindergarten pick-up traffic only. After 12:30pm, the parking lot is open to Grades 1-6 pick-up traffic. Please be advised that parking and waiting at the curb will be prohibited as it impedes the flow of traffic. Please click on the link above to find out how you can help us keep a safe parking lot. Thank you for your cooperation.
