Evergreen School District Superintendent Dr. Emy Flores announced she will be recommending to the Board of Trustees for closure/consolidation at the end of the 2019-20 school year of Laurelwood and Dove Hill Elementary Schools.

Evergreen School District is excited to offer a Spanish Dual Language program for incoming TK and Kindergarten students in fall 2020 at Holly Oak Elementary School. Contributing globally is an important part of our mission here at Katherine Smith. We believe thee are many components to this Smith Habit, but the first is applying work to the world. This can take the form of organizing people, challenging the status quo, leading change, fundraising, making something beautiful, or creating awareness..just to name a few.

Have you ever heard someone say, "I can't do it," when faced with a challenging task? It happens all the time and reflects a fixed mindset: the idea that we are either good at something or we aren't. We have all felt this way before and yes, there may be some things we aren't able to do right now, but what if we simply added, "yet" to the previous statement-"I can't do it, YET."

Back to School Day will take place Wednesday, September 5th. 1st-6th grade presentations will take place from 2:15 to 3:15. Kindergarten and TK will take place from 7:45-8:30. Look for more specific information in your child's Friday Folder.

Our Back-to-School BBQ was a huge success!! We were able to serve over 600 meals and handed out over 250 backpacks! We appreciate all of the generous donations and it was wonderful to see so many partner organizations attend as well!

People make claims all the time-sometimes when expressing an opinion such as their favorite sport, trying to explain their reasoning in how they solved a math problem, or even in determining what really happened to all the dinosaurs. Then question then becomes "How do you know?" or "What makes you say that?"
