Wednesday, December 18 at 6:30 p.m., the Silver Oak PTO proudly presents our 1st-4th Grade Holiday Choir Concert! Treat yourself to an evening of happy voices singing an arrangement of holiday music from around the world, and bringing the winter holiday spirit to Silver Oak for all the share! This is an open admission event - all are invited to enjoy the show!

December's Project Cornerstone book is new to the reading list this year. The title is "The Day You Begin", by Jacqueline Woodson. This story covers diversity, confidence in oneself, and acceptance of others. Cornerstone classrooms will discuss the various dimensions of diversity, and how students can practice inclusion and help to create a caring environment where everyone belongs.

For kids, digital life is real life. It's where they build friendships, take a stand on issues, and do so much more. Next week, Silver Oak students will be learning a range of digital skills -- from online safety and cyberbullying to media balance and learning with technology -- and participating in the Hour of Code program. In preparing for the colder weather and rainy season remember the saying "no bad weather, only bad clothing." Students should be prepared for recess outside on rainy days. This means waterproof boots, waterproof overcoats, hats, mittens and umbrellas. Our goal is to balance the physical activity our students need to release during the day and be ready to learn while keeping our students safe.
